Invoke are an unsigned local Gateshead band who are rapidly gaining the attention of music lovers and radio DJ’s across the region. Their most recent single “Second Time Lucky” has so far been played on a number of stations including BBC Newcastle. It has also received well earned rave reviews as Graeme Fenwick Saturday Breakfast DJ on NE1 FM describes them as a ”Hotly tipped local band”.

They are now to soon release their second single ‘Nothings Changed’ which furthermore reflects the talent and potential of the band. Recored during November in Newcastle and with an accompanying music video on the way, this new single is to be released January 2 and will be available to download HERE.

My Verdict

This new single signifies their confidence growing in both the production and execution of their sound. The band for they type themselves as rock and this song definitely instills this classification. The funky bass and almost Gun’s & Roses esq  guitar kicks in to then accompany the strong willed lyrics: ” Quit changing like the weather, take a leaf from my book” grabs you and you’re hooked. This is a staple song in their collection which I would love to see live. My only criticism would be I find the single to be abit over produced. Yet you cannot doubt this band’s ability to play well and write great songs that sound individual.

Here is a snippet of the track from the band. Please feel free to leave a comment to say what you think of the track.

The lads are not stopping there either. They are currently in the studio working on material for their forthcoming EP ‘Edge Of Virtue’ which they intend to release at the end of February. Personally I can’t wait to hear it. They are also on tour throughout the North East, dates and venues can be found HERE.  So if you like the single get along to the nearest gig to you and check them out live.
