Dalaro – Empires

0

Dalaro are an indie pop-rock band from Gateshead who, “love to combine larger than life lyrics with rhythmically heavy music. “
This is indeed the case with their latest online release “Empires”. The track is a very sophisticated sounding song and reflects how the band is developing their own unique indie-pop infused sound.
“Empires” is a carefully constructed summery song full of warmth and nostalgia, perfectly capturing that sense of freedom and summer love,“The Empires falling down, so we build them up from the ground”.

From the first few simple chords you are hooked as the song along with Connor Templeton’s drawn out northern vocals builds up to an anthemic chorus that will have you pressing repeat once its all over.

Morris Ford – Dark Roads

0

Honest, heart warming and relaxed – just three words to sum up Morris Ford’s EP Dark Roads; which takes you on a journey through the ups and downs of life and love.

Morris’s vocals are rustic yet smooth and compliments his acoustic guitar. I find it hard to write about his music as the best way to experience it is live yet this EP captures some of what it is like to hear him live.

Consisting of three tracks that all flow into one another. However the standout track for me is the more upbeat “I’ll Be Fine” more for the story it tells for all three songs are similar and of the same high standard.

You can listen to the EP and buy it from his bandcamp if you enjoy what you hear.

Invoke – Edge Of Virtue

Invoke are a young three-piece band from Gateshead with big ambitions and a bucket load of enthusiasm. After forming in October 2010 they have been working on their EP “Edge Of Virtue” which was released yesterday, April 2nd, 2012.

“Edge Of Virtue” is well produced and the band sound older than their youthful years. It is jam-packed with influences from The Police to The Red Hot Chilli Peppers and does not disappoint. The key to the EP’s success is the skill full song writing and catchy guitar riffs that give the songs structure and make them, immediately memorable.

The bands EP “Edge Of Virtue” is available to download now.

The band are currently in the middle of making their first music video and we will be catching up with the band for a interview, so you’ll be hearing a lot from this band it seems this year !

Premise Beach -Mikolah

Melodic easy listening should be the tag line placed on this new single ‘Mikloha’ by Premise Beach. Simply put, it is a stripped back love song with sweeping harmonies and a simple hook. Which is all it takes along with Jon’s tender vocals to tug on your heartstrings.

The track reflects the collective mix of influences he draws upon which include pop, rock, blues and folk. All of which on the track are all mulled together creating the perfect sound track to your Sunday afternoon.

This is the first installment of a four part “Welcome to… Premise Beach” series. This includes releasing two digital releases every two months through the Gateshead label Pure Casual. Mr Covell himself is a Manchester based singer and music experimentalist who creates music in the confines of his bedroom.

The single is released on 13th February for digital download here.

Invoke are an unsigned local Gateshead band who are rapidly gaining the attention of music lovers and radio DJ’s across the region. Their most recent single “Second Time Lucky” has so far been played on a number of stations including BBC Newcastle. It has also received well earned rave reviews as Graeme Fenwick Saturday Breakfast DJ on NE1 FM describes them as a ”Hotly tipped local band”.

They are now to soon release their second single ‘Nothings Changed’ which furthermore reflects the talent and potential of the band. Recored during November in Newcastle and with an accompanying music video on the way, this new single is to be released January 2 and will be available to download HERE.

My Verdict

This new single signifies their confidence growing in both the production and execution of their sound. The band for they type themselves as rock and this song definitely instills this classification. The funky bass and almost (more…)
